-Christmas in Florida-

Christmas for Floridians is literally inflatable snowmen on sand and string lights on palm trees. But if you’re anything like me, you’ve always dreamt of waking up one morning and smelling the warm flames crackling in the fireplace and watching the snowfall from your living room. Then you sit on your couch, all curled up, with your fuzzy socks and sip your hot chocolate embellished with mini marshmallows and a spoon made of peppermint chocolate bark. Too far? My bad… Unfortunately in the land of one season, the dream of jack frost nipping at your nose and folks dressed like Eskimos isn’t likely to come true. But to spread the Christmas cheer, I’ve created the ultimate guide to the best Floridian December ever.

Santa’s Enchanted Forest

I’ve been to Santa’s twice and I’ve enjoyed it every time. I vividly remember getting a unicorn painted on my face the first time I went. Well maybe not vividly, it was a long time ago but I definitely know I loved it. Santa’s Enchanted Forest is a Christmas themed fair with fun rides and yummy popcorn. It originated in 1982 by a Floridian family with the last name of Shechtman. This year it began on October 31 and will be open until January 5, 2020! It’s a huge window of time and I hear it gets bigger and bigger every year!

Brightline Polar Express

All aboard! Get your tickets for the Brightline polar express! The movie is now a reality. Come in your PJs with your friends and get ready to experience the magic of Chris Van Allsburg’s legendary polar express. The whole experience is inside the train and includes a reading of the book, hot chocolate, and other little surprises. The route is a point to point path that begins and ends in the Virgin Miami Central Brightline station; as of recently, the polar express is also available in the Ft. Lauderdale station. The train ride itself is one hour but, the experience can range between 2 to 2 1/2 hours. The Brightline Polar Express is definitely a must and will for sure be one to remember.

Christmas at the Oasis

Christmas at the Oasis has been around for 25 years! Amazingly, the Oasis church team begins rewiring the lights in March to have the perfect light display. Starting December 5th Oasis church will have Christmas at the Oasis every Thursday-Sunday from 6 pm to 10 pm until the 22nd! This year they have delicious snacks like hot chocolate, smores, hot cider, popcorn, hotdogs and burgers! Oasis church outdid themselves with their light display and activities this year. There’s a Ferris wheel, ice skating, and a train ride that rides through the light drive-through. They also have a seating area outside where they play fun Christmas movies. Inside the church is where you can find a Christmas show at 7:30 and 8:30. You can also view the world-record-holding collection of nativity scene displays! This is the perfect place to bring your family and a perfect date night spot. I definitely enjoyed every second of my date when we went.

Candy Cane Parade

The Candy Cane Parade originated in the mid-1950s by a group of Hollywood sellers that were trying to advertise their products to the public in an eye-catching manner. Today, it has become a city tradition that features numerous floats and vehicles that are wrapped in stunning lights, with people riding and them tossing candy canes to the viewers as they pass by. The parade starts at 7 pm on December 7, 2019, on Hollywood Beach Boardwalk and goes south to Harrison street!

Florida doesn’t have cold crisp mornings that are spent in the comfort of our nice warm homes and yummy warm treats. But, Florida does have it’s fun alternatives that are just as memorable. Attending these events could become a new family tradition to embark on! I don’t know about you but my Christmas itinerary is already filling up. 🙂 – A
